The oversight for Massachusetts General is the Department of Health and Human Services. The process that they are using to achieve these objectives is: the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety. However, if the level of services can improve or remain the same, it is highlighting increasing safety standards at the facility. What the different government regulators are looking for is to use these surveys, to confirm that a trend is taking place. At which point, they could find outside information to: corroborate and identify specific situations that were positive or negative. This is important, because it shows how the process of oversight is designed to identify, when changes are taking place (surrounding the overall quality of care being provided).
